About Kibbutz Gadot

The kibbutz was established after the War of Independence in 1949 by the Working Youth Movement as well as holocaust survivors from across Europe. Gadot served as a frontier guard, standing watch over the northern border of the State of Israel. In the 1950’s and 60’s, the kibbutz suffered a great deal of damage and destruction at the hands of the Syrian army and faced heavy shelling reducing many of the buildings in the kibbutz to rubble. Over the years, the devoted residents of the kibbutz rebuilt after the destruction, cultivated the surrounding land, planted roots, raised families and thereafter, life in the kibbutz has grown and flourished.
The community of Kibbutz Gadot is characterized by a secular lifestyle, openness and tolerance. The modern-day community of Gadot has been shaped due to its history to be cohesive and united as one. Today, the kibbutz has about 397 members, makes democratic decisions and advocates an open and high-quality dialogue between its members.
Kibbutz Gadot is considered to be a “green Kibbutz”, that strives to preserve the environment. This is thanks to; charging stations for electrical vehicles scattered throughout the kibbutz, non-harmful preservation of the wildlife, solar panels installed on roofs to generate solar energy for consumption.

You are invited to wander along the paths and across the lawns, gaze upon the Golan heights and Mt Hermon and absorb the remote and quiet surroundings and breathe in the atmosphere of the place.
